Tokyo, July 17, 2008 --- Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT / TSE:6501) today announced that it has secured an order for the construction of a Fuel Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) system for the Kozienice coal-fired power plant unit no.10 (500MW) near Warsaw in Poland in partnership with Energo Montaz. Polnoc S.A.( EMP) The total contract amount is EURO net 77,33 million (Approx. PLN 260,86 million) and commercial operations will commence from the beginning of 2011. |

(NYSE:HIT / TSE:6501) ogłosiła dzisiaj, że otrzymała zamówienie na budowę instalacji odsiarczania spalin dla bloku nr 10 (500 MW) elektrowni węglowej Kozienice, położnej niedaleko Warszawy. Kontrakt zostanie zrealizowany we współpracy ze spółką Energomontaż Północ S.A. (EMP) i będzie mieć wartość 77,33 mln EUR (około 260,86 mln PLN). Nowa instalacja zostanie oddana do użytku na początku 2011 r. |

Electrabel, E.ON Kraftwerke and Hitachi intend to cooperate in a joint research project. Target of
the project is to design, build and operate a test facility to investigate the behaviour of different
solvents in the process for CO2 capture from flue gases. The main aim of the project is the
execution of scrubbing tests under real flue gas conditions with different chemical solvents. |

London – 20th February 2008: Following the introduction of its Class 395 bullet train to the UK in 2007, Hitachi Europe has announced that it is running a trial alongside Network Rail to test and introduce its ETCS-compatible signalling system. The system is based on the highly reliable Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system that is used in Tokyo, the most congested metropolitan area in Japan, as well as on the Shinkansen, Japanese Bullet Train. |
